Our culture has become very good at weddings and increasingly confused about marriage. In Song of Solomon 3, Jared looks beyond the ceremony to the covenant being declared: “I am committed to you before God in all the ways that you’re going to change.” Marriage is not sustained by one great wedding day or by constantly changing feelings, but by ordinary days of sacrifice, faithfulness, repentance, forgiveness, and delight. Ultimately, every marriage points beyond itself to Christ—the faithful groom whose covenant love never fails his bride.

A godly woman is not defined by marriage, motherhood, appearance, or anyone else’s approval—her identity is rooted in Christ. In Song of Solomon 1, Jared highlights a woman who uses her words to give life, chooses wise friends, finds security beyond cultural standards of beauty, acknowledges her wounds without being defined by them, and speaks with courage. These are not five more standards to perform; they are signs of a life being changed from the inside out as she learns to rest in the worth Jesus has already secured for her.

Where do you run when trouble comes? Psalm 77 gives us an honest picture of Asaph wrestling with discouragement, questions, and even a felt distance from God—yet continuing to seek him. Charles focuses on two practices that anchor us in those seasons: remembering God’s faithfulness and meditating deeply on his truth. Rather than treating time with God like a microwave, we are invited to slow down, build “altars of remembrance,” and keep seeking the Lord even when our souls do not feel ready to be comforted.

Satan does not have to convince us that God is bad if he can simply get us to forget that God is good. In Psalm 103, David preaches to his own soul: “forget not all his benefits.” Stuart walks through five gifts God gives his people— forgiveness, healing, redemption, steadfast love and mercy, and true satisfaction—and calls us to remember them deliberately. When life is hard and our memory of God’s goodness grows foggy, remembering what he has done renews our hearts and stirs our affection for him.

What kind of man earns a woman’s trust, affection, and admiration? Song of Solomon gives us a picture that goes far deeper than appearance, success, or status. A godly man builds a trustworthy name, uses his words to give life, makes time for his wife, provides a place where his family can flourish, and continues pursuing her through every changing season. But becoming that man does not begin with trying harder—it begins with becoming more like Christ, the One husbands and wives were ultimately designed to point one another toward.

Every day is filled with decisions, but Jesus says the most important decision you'll ever make is whether you'll truly follow Him.
